Montgomery County Police Sgt. Patrick Kepp, whose legs were amputated after being intentionally struck by a driver, was released from a Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore and admitted to Walter Reed Hospital Thursday afternoon.
Kepp was struck Oct. 18 while trying to stop a driver on I-270. He was outside his patrol car when 19-year-old Frederick Raphael Mayorga struck him, according to Montgomery County Police. Mayorga currently is being held without bond.
Kepp came to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda by an ambulance that was accompanied by police escort. Officers from about 30 police cars parked along the medical center entrance on Rockville Pike applauded his arrival.
The motorcade left Baltimore, traveled south on I-95 to the Intercounty Connector to I-270 and exited onto Wisconsin Avenue.
Here is a link to a video of his journey produced by the Montgomery County Police Department.
