Dozens of Medstar Montgomery medical workers in Olney participated in a “White Coats for Black Lives” demonstration Friday afternoon.
For 8 minutes and 46 seconds, the medical community took a knee in silence to honor George Floyd, who was killed by a police officer in Minneapolis in that time duration.
White Coats For Black Lives demonstrations are happening outside of hospitals around the country. According to the movement’s website, its mission is “[e]liminating racial bias in the practice of medicine and recognizing racism as a threat to the health and well-being of people of color.”
