Former Montgomery County School Board member Jill Ortman-Fouse traveled to North Carolina, where she was raised and attended school, to help make sure that anyone whose mail in ballot was questioned had the opportunity to fix it and have the vote counted.
After knocking on “dozens and dozens of doors,” she said she realized that Black individuals, college students and senior citizens were being disenfranchised. As she told MyMCMedia, voting is “fundamental to the backbone of our democracy.”
