Since the wholesale forced resignation of the Park and Planning Commissioners in October, public concerns have grown over the swiftness of the event and the seeming lack of transparency. In its wake, State Senator Ben Kramer has crafted legislation to reconfigure the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission [MNCPPC].
On Thursday, Dec. 15, a virtual meeting held by the Maryland House Delegation allowed for more debate on the issues raised by the sudden dissolution of the Commission. Concerned citizens expressed their opinions on the laws Kramer will present to the General Assembly in January.
At certain points, more questions were raised than answered. Here is an excerpt from that meeting including participation by two of the now-dismissed Commission members, Partap Verma and Carol Rubin.
