UPDATE: Pedestrian Dies in Crash in Silver Spring

Update: The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) detectives identified the male pedestrian as Ernest Joseph Dyson, 39, of Clinton. Dyson was a WSSC Water employee who was working at the time when he was struck by an intoxicated driver, according to the press release.

MCP said the investigation is active and ongoing. The CRU detectives are asking people who have witnessed the collision to call 240-773-6620.

Original: A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Silver Spring Sunday, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCP).

MCP said officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) crews responded to a report of a male pedestrian struck in the area of New Hampshire Avenue and Rodney Road at around 4:40 a.m.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The police said his identity would be released once his next of kin is notified.

The driver who struck the pedestrian was uninjured. Officers said the investigation is ongoing.
