Police said a man died after he was struck by a driver in the Colesville area on Tuesday.
Sidney Cardoso Sr., 61, of Silver Spring, was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
Officers and fire and rescue personnel responded to New Hampshire Avenue and Bonifant Road at about 9:26 p.m. Tuesday for a reported collision involving a pedestrian, according to police.
According to police, a driver in a 2012 Toyota Prius was going south on New Hampshire Avenue south of Bonifant Road, and struck Cardoso, who was in the roadway “for reasons still under investigation.”
The driver stayed on scene.
Cardoso was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and was later pronounced dead.
