Update: In an update Wednesday, police clarified that the pedestrian was struck by one driver and reports of a second driver’s involvement were unfounded. According to police, a driver in a 2020 Honda CR-V was going northbound on Georgia Avenue when he fatally struck a man who was in the road near Flora Lane. The man’s name will be released after notifying next of kin. The driver stayed at the scene, police said.
Original: Police said a pedestrian was fatally struck Tuesday night in Silver Spring.
Officers and fire rescue personnel were dispatched to the 9500 block of Georgia Avenue at about 8:04 p.m. for a reported pedestrian collision, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
Police stated the pedestrian was struck by two vehicles and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information to contact Collision Reconstruction Unit detectives at (240) 773-6620.
The pedestrian has not yet been identified. Police stated more information including the name of the decedent will go out after notification of next of kin.
