Montgomery County police officers reopened Potomac Tennis Lane and Falls Road in Potomac at about 7 p.m. Monday following a standoff that lasted almost 15 hours.
A heavy police presence blocked off the area as officers dealt with a person they described as being in distressed.
According to a police update, the “subject is safe and in custody.”
The incident began at around 4:30 a.m. Monday and ended at about 7 p.m.
Earlier in the day, the officers reported that they had spoken with the person involved “in an effort to resolve the situation.”
Throughout the incident, police maintained that there was no threat to the community. Falls Road Golf Course, adjacent to the scene of the incident, was closed all day. There were 165 people scheduled to play on the unseasonably warm day.
