A CSX freight train struck and killed a person in Gaithersburg on Saturday night, a spokesperson confirmed in a statement.
At around 10:19 p.m., a train struck a person on railroad tracks just west of the rail overpass by Quince Orchard Road, CSX Transportation Spokesperson Sheriee Bowman said. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) responded and confirmed the person deceased, she said.
MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer confirmed the incident.

At approximately 10:19 p.m. Saturday night, a CSX train struck a person on the railroad tracks just west of the rail overpass near Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg, MD. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene and confirmed that the individual was fatally injured. CSX personnel continue to support local law enforcement in their investigation of this incident. We appreciate the prompt response provided by the local authorities and extend our thoughts to those impacted by this tragic event.
