Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich discussed Phase 2 reopening during his weekly COVID-19 media briefing on Wednesday.
Beginning this Friday at 5:00 p.m., swimming pools and shopping malls are on the list of places that will open with restrictions.
County health officer Dr. Travis Gayles, who joined Elrich during the briefing, mentioned that the gradual reopening depends on county COVID-19 data and indications of fewer cases. He said that the number of new cases has dropped significantly recently. Dr. Gayles also commented on increased testing efforts across the county. Over the past couple of days, he says that the test positivity average has also dropped compared to early May.
