The Montgomery County Planning Department is holding a series of four workshops starting April 26 to focus discussion on specific areas along the University Boulevard Corridor (UBC) Plan.
Community engagement has been a central goal of the Planning Department since the project was introduced in November 2022. The first two workshops address the I-495 to Dennis Avenue area of the plan with an in-person meeting at Montgomery Blair High School on April 26 and a virtual session on May 3.
Following these workshops, the next two will be centered around the Dennis Avenue to Amherst Avenue area. The in-person meeting for this area is on May 17 in the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission Wheaton Headquarters Auditorium. The virtual meeting will be held on May 24.
All workshops will run from 7-9 p.m. Attendees for the in-person workshops are encouraged to RSVP on the Planning Department’s website. For those who plan to attend the online sessions, registration is required.
The UBC Plan is meant to address resident needs regarding traffic safety, environmental sustainability, regional connectivity and economic development. Expanding on other plans such as the Countywide Transit Corridors Functional Master Plan, Thrive Montgomery 2050, and Vision Zero, the UBC plan will bolster growth in the three-mile stretch using resident feedback and ideas.
