Police said a 17-year-old pedestrian who was out walking her dogs suffered life-threatening injuries after a driver struck her Monday.
The girl’s two dogs died at the scene, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
Officers, fire and rescue personnel and county animal services responded to the 6300 block of Muncaster Mill Road at about 4:21 p.m. for a reported traffic collision involving a pedestrian, per a release from MCPD.
Police said a driver in a Toyota Corolla was going south on Muncaster Mill Road prior to Bowie Mill Road. MCPD said that “for reasons still under investigation, the driver struck the 17-year-old female victim, who was walking her two dogs across the street.”
She was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
The driver remained at the scene.
