Seven people suffered serious injuries in a multi-vehicle collision Thursday in the Wheaton-Glenmont area, according to police.
Officers and fire rescue personnel responded to Georgia Avenue and Kayson Street at about 6:39 p.m. for a reported serious collision, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
According to police, a driver in an Audi A6 was going southbound on Georgia Avenue and struck a heavy duty Ford Truck and trailer that was trying to turn onto northbound Georgia.
The truck spun, detached from the trailer and crashed into a Chevy Traverse.
The trailer spilled into the road and was hit by a Ford Taurus.
Police explained that seven people were taken to hospitals with serious but non-life-threatening injuries: the driver and three occupants in the Ford Truck, the drivers in the Audi A6 and Ford Taurus, and a a pedestrian who was injured while trying to avoid the crash.
MCPD stated the investigation is ongoing.
