Montgomery County Police arrested a man threatening people with a knife near the Downtown Silver Spring Whole Foods Friday.

According to Third District Commander Jason Cokinos, officers responded to an “armed subject” threatening people with a four inch knife.
When approached, the subject fled on foot. Officers gave chase, eventually apprehending the suspect nearby.
“Officers used their training and tactics to safely take this person into custody,” Cokinos said via X. “This situation could have ended way worse.”
