Detectives are investigating a serious collision involving a bicyclist and tractor trailer driver in Clarksburg.
An adult male bicyclist was taken to a hospital with critical injuries after the collision Friday afternoon, the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) said in a release. Police do not have an update on the bicyclist’s condition as of Monday morning, MCPD told MyMCM.
According to police, the bicyclist and tractor trailer driver were heading north on Frederick Road past Stringtown Road.
“While the truck was overtaking the bicycle, the operator of the bicycle struck the rear portion of the trailer, causing him to fall and was subsequently struck by the trailer,” police said in their statement. Officers and fire/rescue service responded to the collision at about 4:27 p.m. Friday.
Police said the tractor trailer driver stayed on scene and was uninjured.
