A more discreet Montgomery County Police car makes its debut Thursday.
Two new versions of the police cruisers feature a standard slick top and a ghost graphic slick top. Neither of these vehicles have light flashers mounted on the roof. Instead, the lights are inside, on the top of the windshield and in the rear window.
The cruisers with the ghost graphic include the department’s decal but in a subdued gray and white rather than black and gold lettering. The lettering is faint during the day and reflective at night.
The idea behind the change is to allow officers to better notice drivers who are speeding, texting, not wearing seatbelts, driving impaired or driving aggressively, according to police.
Central Traffic Unit officers operating these vehicles are clad in full uniform.
