The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) hosts a meet and greet with those interested in law enforcement. The event will be held at the Public Safety Training Academy at 8751 Snouffer School Rd in Montgomery Village from 9-11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15.

Across the nation, the number of law enforcement workers has been steadily dropping. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, from March 2020 to August 2022, there was a 4% drop in the number of law enforcement workers.
To accommodate the shrinking force, the county has already had to shift its staffing due to the growing number of vacancies. With 176 unfilled positions, response times have steadily increased over the past two years.
To attract more candidates, the department announced a $20,000 signing bonus in February for new police officers. According to Zip Recruiter as of Sep 24, 2023, the average annual pay for a Police Officer in Montgomery County is $53,840 a year.
