The decomposed body that was found inside the apartment of Torrey Damien Moore, 31, who is charged in the killing of a clerk at Dash In Convenience Store in Silver Spring has been identified.
According to Montgomery County Police, the woman was Denise Middleton. She was 26 years old and about 38-weeks pregnant. An autopsy indicated that she had been shot multiple times, sometime in October.
Her body, which was found in the bedroom of the Enclave apartment she shared with Moore, was in an advanced state of decomposition. A medical examiner determined that the fetus was male, and that the boy would have survived if delivered at 38 weeks.
Middleton’s body was discovered Dec. 9 when police were executing a no-knock search warrant in connection with the shooting death of Ayalew Wondimu, 64, the employee at the Dash In, which is located in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Avenue.
Employees there had run ins with Moore before and considered him a problem customer, according to Police Chief Marcus Jones.
Moore, who is being held without bond, is charged with the first-degree murder of Wondimu, the first-degree murder of Middleton, the first-degree murder of a viable fetus and a crime of violence against a pregnant person. A bond hearing on the charges of murder of Middleton and her fetus is set for Dec. 16.
Moore’s preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 6, 2023.
