Police identified the pedestrian who was fatally struck Tuesday night in Silver Spring.
27-year-old Khalid Shakir Scriven of Gaithersburg was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
Officers and fire rescue personnel responded to the 9500 block of Georgia Avenue at about 8:04 p.m. Tuesday for a reported collision, according to police. Police stated a driver in a Honda CR-V was going northbound on Georgia Avenue when he fatally struck Scriven who was in the road near Flora Lane.
The driver stayed at the scene. The investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information to contact Collision Reconstruction Unit detectives at (240) 773-6620.
