Montgomery County Police officers are investigating the death of a 45-year-old man they believe was involved in a fight.
Police responded to an apartment in the 11400 block of Stewart Lane at 1 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a call about a fight in progress. When they arrived, they found an adult male, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s office, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death, according to police.
Police found Wesley Cooper, 46, of Gaithersburg, in the apartment. He was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder and first-degree assault.
He currently is at Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he awaits a bond hearing Wednesday. His preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 2.
Police are expected to release the name of the victim after notifying his next of kin.
