Detectives with the Montgomery County Police are investigating an armed carjacking that happened in downtown Silver Spring on Sept. 19.
The incident occurred at 9:43 p.m. in the 8700 block of Colesville Road, according to police. The victim, an adult male, left his car running, unlocked and unattended while doing some errands. As he returned to his car, the victim noticed a male suspect wearing a red jacket enter from the driver’s side. He also noticed another male suspect wearing a black hooded sweatshirt enter his car near the passenger side.
Police say the victim confronted the suspect in the driver seat but was threatened by the suspect’s gun. Both suspects eventually fled the area with the victim’s car.
On Sunday, Sept. 20, detectives found the victim’s vehicle unoccupied on Anacostia Avenue in Northeast, Washington, D.C.
Detectives are asking that anyone with information about this armed carjacking call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100. Crime Solvers is offering to pay a cash reward of up to $10 thousand for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
