Police Investigating Double Homicide in Rockville, Shooting in Silver Spring

Montgomery County Police officers are investigating a double homicide at the intersection of Shady Grove Road and Research Boulevard in Rockville early Friday morning. A suspect was arrested.

Police also are investing a shooting in the 1100 block of University Boulevard in Silver Spring on Friday. No suspect is in custody yet.

In the Rockville homicides, an officer from the police’s First District was on patrol at 3:16 a.m. when he noticed a white BMW stopped at that intersection. Officers found a dead adult male inside and bullet holes on the outside of the car.

A few hours later, Rockville City Police officers responded to the parking lot at 2 Research Court after receiving a report of a dead person. Police found a dead adult female with apparent gunshot wounds and shell casings.

An investigation revealed that the two homicides were connected, and they identified Kaloyan Dimov Stoev, 25, of Derwood, as a suspect. He was located in Rockville at noon and taken into custody.

He is charged with two counts of murder in the first degree and use of a weapon during a felony. He is in custody pending the results of a bail hearing Jan. 21. His preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 14.

The two bodies were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted.
