Police continue to investigate a series of four bank robberies that occurred between last January and December in Montgomery County.
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) released surveillance photos of a male suspect and ask for help identifying him.
According to police, on Jan. 18, 2022, officers responded to Sandy Spring Bank on Spencerville Road in Burtonsville for a bank robbery. Police said a male suspect entered the bank and approached the teller. He slid the teller a note announcing the robbery and demanding money. The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect left, police said.
Police believe the same suspect robbed banks on three other occasions: M&T Bank on Tech Road on Feb. 18, Capital One Bank on New Hampshire Avenue on March 12, and the same M&T Bank on Tech Road just last month on Dec. 22.
MCPD describe the suspect as “a Black male between 5-feet, 7-inches to 6-feet tall and weighs approximately 160 to 190 pounds. The suspect wears a hooded jacket, surgical mask and gloves.”
In each robbery, police said he passed the teller a handwritten note stating he had a gun and a bomb.
Police ask anyone with information to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070 or contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Up to $10,000 is offered for information that leads to arrest. Callers can be anonymous.
