The Montgomery County Police Department is investigating several thefts from cell phone stores. Officials believe the crimes are all connected.
Detectives say within three separate thefts, cell phones worth more than $9,000 were stolen.
On Oct. 9, the T-Mobile Store located on the 15000 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring was robbed around 2:00 p.m.
In addition to that, on Nov. 8, the T-Mobile store located on the 500 block of Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg was hit around 11:00 a.m. The Gaithersburg Police Department is currently investigating this incident.
Then on Nov. 12, cell phones were taken from the Verizon store located on the 3000 block of Spartan Road in Olney around 1:45 p.m.
Investigators have released video surveillance and photographs of three suspects and are asking the public for assistance in identifying them.
In each of these thefts, the suspects entered during normal business hours and posed as customers. The suspects then pulled the cellular phones from the security cords that hold the items to the display counters and used wire cutters to get away with the electronics.
