The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) will increase police presence in downtown Silver Spring parking garages starting this week to improve driver safety.
MCPD told MCM in an email that a few evenings per week, the police department will conduct high-visibility patrols in and around different parking garages during dinner and evening hours. There will also be a late-night presence targeting car thieves in various garages.
According to the 3rd District Commander Jason Cokinos, the heightened security is in partnership with the Montgomery County Department of Transportation, which will also conduct patrols of its own.
