Police are investigating an armed carjacking with a knife last week in Silver Spring and are asking for help identifying a suspect.
At about 9 p.m. on Jan. 4, Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) officers responded to the Truist Bank Drive-Thru in the 12000 block of Cherry Hill Road for a reported armed carjacking, per a release from MCPD.
According to police, a man was outside of his car at the ATM and was approached by a male suspect who was armed with a knife. Police said the suspect demanded cash and as the victim backed away, the suspect entered his car and drove away.
Detectives released surveillance video of the suspect and ask for the public’s help identifying him
Police describe the suspect as “a Black male, approximately 30-years-old, 6-feet, 2-inches to 6-feet, 3-inches tall, 180 to 190 pounds, with a medium build. He was wearing an orange hood and a medium length, gray coat.”

Up to $10,000 is offered for information that leads to the suspect’s arrest. Callers can be anonymous.
