Police Seek Help Identifying Body Found in Rock Creek Park

Montgomery County Police are asking the public for help in identifying the human remains of a body found in Rock Creek Regional Park.

The remains were found March 1 by a hiker, who saw a human skull and called 911.

Officers from the county and the Maryland National Capital Police went to the wooded area and found more human bones, along with several pieces of clothing, including a winter hat, jacket and pants. However, they did not find any identification at the scene.

The remains and clothing items were sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) for analysis, which determined that they belong to a Hispanic male in his late teens, approximately 5-feet 5-inches tall.

The cause and manner of death has not yet been determined, according to police.

Anyone with information that could help in determining who the person is, or if you recognize the clothing as belonging to someone missing, please contact the Montgomery County Police non-emergency number at 301-279-8000.
