Police Seeking Former Student for Emailing ‘Intimidating’ Threats to Montgomery College

Takoma Park Police officers are seeking Yomas Alemseged Harris, 25, in connection to threatening, violent emails made toward Montgomery College Oct. 11.

Police issued an active arrest warrant for Harris, who previously attended Montgomery College, charging him with threat of mass violence.

According to police, Harris “sent intimidating and threatening emails to Montgomery College officials/employees and the Montgomery County Police Department, indicating he intended to “shoot up” Montgomery College.”

The college issued a Code Red and closed all its campuses. The college reopened Saturday.

Harris is described as a Black male, 5’2” tall, weighing 125 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

People are advised not to approach Harris. Instead, they should contact Takoma Park Police at 301-270-1100 or submit anonymous tips to the department’s tip line.
