Poolesville will be hosting its traditional fireworks event on July 4 at the soccer fields on Hughes Road and Sugarland Road, according to the Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department.
The gates will open at 5 p.m. and a number of food trucks and live music will be present: including Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream, Big Greek Café Truck, Corned Beef King, Julia’s Gourmet, Flip Side Gastro, Rosie’s Funnel Cakes, Grandma’s Kona Ice. The fireworks will be set off when the sky is dark, which is expected to be around 9 p.m.
There will be a parking fee of $5 per vehicle to support the fireworks and alcohol and pets are prohibited. Guests are encouraged to come early for parking and not permitted to park on Hughes Road or to enter through the polo fields.
The display is sponsored by Poolesville, Poolesville Area Chamber of Commerce, Jamison’s Real Estate, Total Automotive & Diesel, and the Upper Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department.
The rain date for this event will be July 5 at 5 p.m.
Because of the uncertain nature of the pandemic, the county did not enter contracts in time to host its own fireworks event. Some towns in Montgomery County will host a number of alternative celebrations for the holiday, and Gaithersburg will host a fireworks display on Sept. 5 for Labor Day.
