An early morning fire in a Potomac home displaced two residents and caused an estimated $80,000 in damage, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) spokesperson Pete Piringer.
Firefighters responded around 4:30 a.m. Sunday to a single-family home on Piney Meetinghouse Court, near River Road and Glen Road.
The fire originated in the garage and was caused by an electric vehicle charging device, known as Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), Piringer said.
Roughly 50 firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
No injuries were reported, but two occupants were displaced by the blaze.
The fire has been ruled accidental.
