To welcome Pride Month, Montgomery County leaders raised a Progress Pride flag outside the Executive Office Building on Veterans Memorial Plaza in Rockville.
County Council Vice President Evan Glass, who is the county’s first openly gay councilmember, noted this year is also the 10th anniversary of the passage of marriage equality in Maryland.
Leaders said Montgomery County stands against legislation from other states trying to pull back support for LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer) residents. Last week, Montgomery County raised a Pride flag at Veterans Plaza in Downtown Silver Spring to mark the start of the month.
