With just a few hours left to cast ballots, eligible voters are encouraged to check their polling location before voting.
On the morning of Maryland’s 2022 Primary Gubernatorial Election, many residents turned up at Wheaton Library & Community Recreation Center and the Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center in Chevy Chase to make their voices heard, only to discover no voting was taking place at that location.
The Montgomery County Board of Elections released information on several locations where early voting was taking place, Wheaton Park Library & Community Recreation Center and the Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center being among the names.
However, not all of the early voting locations are serving as Primary Election Day voting locations. An employee of the library told MyMCM it’s a commonly repeated mistake.
Eligible voters can check their determined polling location online with the Maryland State Board of Elections voter lookup service. Those with mail-in or take-home ballots may drop off their envelopes at a designated Montgomery County ballot drop box before polls close at 8 p.m. Maps of ballot drop box locations are available online, or voters can text BOX and their ZIP code to 77788.
Additional voting assistance can be obtained by speaking with an election worker, or by contacting the Montgomery County Board of Elections at 240-777-8500 or by emailing elections@montgomerycountymd.gov.
