The Marilyn J. Praisner Recreation Center in Burtonsville will turn into a prom boutique Saturday, April 15 for the second annual Praisner’s Project Prom Dress giveaway event. Any high school student with their school ID can shop for a free item from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Community members donated about 1150 lightly used prom dresses, suits and accessories between February and March that were then dry-cleaned for display. The giveaway is meant to limit the financial burden of prom, a memorable night in the high school experience.
Radio personality Poet Taylor from WPGC 95.5 FM, a co-sponsor of the giveaway, will act as a host and celebrity personal shopper as she broadcasts from the event.
