Protestors gathered in Rockville to demand a ceasefire in Gaza.
They joined Monday outside U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin’s office on Hungerford Drive.
Cardin, who is Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, recently returned from visits to Israel and Saudi Arabia with a bipartisan delegation amid the war between Israel and Hamas.
Thousands in Gaza have been “killed by indiscriminate Israeli bombardment,” per a release ahead of the protest from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which held the protest along with American Muslims for Palestine (AMP).
CAIR has called the Israeli attacks on Gaza a genocide.
On Oct. 7, the terrorist organization Hamas waged a surprise attack on Israel, leaving more than 1,000 Israelis dead. The attack led to a war declaration by the Israeli government.
The Associated Press reported that the Gaza Health Ministry said the Palestinian death toll has passed 8,000. AP reported more than 1,400 people have died on the Israeli side.
