On Tuesday the PTA President at New Hampshire Estates Elementary School made a video appeal to the Board of Education during their regularly scheduled meeting.
Nancy Mcinerney pleaded with the School Board to intervene in this unhealthy situation.
MCM asked Montgomery Public Schools to respond to the video. Here’s what they said:
We acknowledge the ongoing concerns regarding humidity and water infiltration at New Hampshire States Elementary School. Since August 2024, we have taken the following actions: our Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) team conducted three complaint-driven investigations, the facility improvement team completed mold remediation, and dehumidifiers were installed in the lower-level wing.
To further address these issues, we have engaged a mechanical engineering firm to evaluate the HVAC system and recommend solutions for humidity control.
In addition, we are sending a team to the school immediately to investigate these most recent concerns.
New Hampshire Estates Elementary School ranks as a Title 1 school which means it receives federal funding to support its student body. The school is located at 8720 Carroll Avenue in Silver Spring. It was built in 1962.
