The National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board awarded $100,000 for a design project to improve safety along Randolph Road.

The project includes the development of preliminary engineering designs on Randolph Road, which the county has identified as a high injury area.

Proposed improvements include lane width reduction, improved pedestrian crossings, enhanced corridor access management and ADA compliance at sidewalks, ramps and crosswalks.

The planning board, which is part of the Metropolitan Council of Governments, approved five other projects in the D.C. area for a total of $480,000.
