A Silver Spring man was arrested on rape and assault charges during a traffic stop at BWI Airport.
Wilfredo Pineda, 27, was wanted on an open warrant through Baltimore County Police, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA).
MDTA officers arrested him Jan. 13, per a release.
After 2 a.m. that night, an officer stopped a Dodge Ram on the airport’s upper level on the inner roadway, which is a high pedestrian area limited to authorized vehicles, according to MDTA.
Pineda was identified as the driver and officers learned he was wanted for charges including second-degree rape and assault. MDTA stated he was arrested and taken to the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Anne Arundel County without incident.
He is being held without bond, according to MDTA.
