U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-MD, launched the annual 2021 Congressional Art Competition for high school students in Maryland’s 8th District on Feb. 22.
The winning submission will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year alongside artwork from every congressional district across the country. In order to follow COVID-19 public health guidelines and social distancing precautions, all submissions will be featured in a virtual gallery in place of the traditional gallery display at VisArts in Rockville.
In 2020, more than 120 students from 16 high schools across the district participated in the competition. Virtual submissions from the previous year can be viewed in a virtual gallery, similar to this year’s format.
Entries must be submitted virtually through the VisArts portal by 5 p.m. on April 12. Winners of the competition will be announced by May 3.
For more information on the competition, rules and regulations, individuals can visit Rep. Jamie Raskin’s website or contact the Rockville District Office at 301-354-1000. Participants can also email Nina.Weisbroth@mail.house.gov.
