It all started when Little Steven Van Zandt from Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band sent Rep. Jamie Raskin a bandana to cover up his hair loss that resulted from chemotherapy treatments for his Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma.
The guitarist sent Raskin bandanas, including ones he had sported, and the two formed a bond. Raskin proudly wears the bandanas to deal with his “wounded male pride” as he told MyMCMedia.
On Sunday, Raskin visited with Van Zandt and fellow E Street guitarist Nils Lofgren who is a Bethesda native and Walter Johnson High School alum.
Springsteen and his band are performing Monday night at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
Little Steven—star of stage and screen who taught me everything I need to know about wearing fine head-dress to rock the House—is in the Capitol city! Thrilled you're here. @StevieVanZandt https://t.co/r3YCFCrygm pic.twitter.com/5ptAmwuJB2

The E Street Band has arrived in town and look who I found: none other than Nils Lofgren, who spent most of his childhood in Bethesda and Gaithersburg before meeting Neil Young at the Cellar Door and becoming one of the great rockers of our time. Welcome, @NilsLofgren! pic.twitter.com/8Slmvv1NrG
