The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts record-breaking heat through Thursday. The area is under a heat advisory from noon until 8 p.m. Tuesday. The heat index may reach between 100 to 105 degrees or higher. When outdoors during this time, NWS recommends staying hydrated and taking breaks.

Montgomery County is under a hyperthermia alert Tuesday which is issued when the temperatures are expected to reach 95 degrees or higher. People should take precautions to protect themselves, and their pets, against heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke and exhaustion. Young children, the elderly and pets should never be left in parked vehicles during hot weather.
The county fines residents $500 who leave pets outdoors unattended during a hyperthermia alert.
