With the snip of numerous scissors, a refurbished Potomac Library reopened Saturday with a Peter Rabbit outdoor garden and new windows, flooring, painting, service desk lighting and much more.
The work also included a redesign of the children’s reading nook, security equipment and lounge seating and study areas.
The library on Glenolden Drive, which is home to 75,000 books and lots of electronic technology, had been shuttered since May 22, 2022.
County Executive Marc Elrich, numerous members of the county council, Maryland General Assembly’s 16th delegation members and many readers anxious to check out their new library attended. Members of the Winston Churchill Jazz Ensemble performed.
This is the 13th of the 21 Montgomery County Public Libraries to be refurbished.
The Potomac Library is fully renovated and open to the public!
The partnership between Montgomery County Public Libraries, the Friends of the Library, and the community volunteers has made this a beautiful facility.

ICYMI: It's wonderful to see people using and enjoying the Potomac Library again. The Grand Reopening was this weekend after the branch went through a refresh. More photos from the event https://t.co/dtwtNYMYRZ@MCPL_Libraries @FOLMC @MoCoCouncilMD pic.twitter.com/XSp1WggDmJ
