Registration for youth basketball programs in the county open Oct. 2 at 8:30 a.m.
Children in kindergarten through 2nd grade are eligible. Each team will have four practices and four games which will begin the first Saturday of December.
Registration will be available in person at Montgomery County Recreation facilities, online, or by mail.
The program provides financial assistance to those in need on a rolling basis. Players are allowed to apply if their program is over $25. If granted aid, the funds must be processed within 10 business days, and a 20% co-payment is required when registering.
In addition to developing their basketball skills, participants will learn the value of working with a team.
The program is also looking for coaches. Volunteers interested should email rec.sports@montgomerycountymd.gov.
Registration will close on Nov. 30. The league will officially begin on Dec. 4 with practices every Saturday. The weekly games will then start on the first Saturday of January.
