The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will host the 10th annual Montgomery County Energy Summit in March.
The event showcases products, services and technologies aimed to improve sustainability in Montgomery County, targeting building owners, property managers, developers, energy contractors, residents interested in green building and sustainability professionals working in the county and the Washington Metropolitan area.
This year, the main focus of the summit is to assist the commercial building community to comply with energy benchmarking and new building codes. Compliance requirements will be reviewed and hands-on learning opportunities will be available to the attendees. Also the summit includes product and service vendors with innovative approaches and a networking reception.
The first day of the summit on Tuesday, March 28, is designed for building owners, managers and facilities staff. In the morning, attendees will cycle through five stations to learn about energy benchmarking and performance requirements for commercial buildings and available resources. In the afternoon, attendees will have the opportunity to receive hands-on support from subject matter experts. Energy audit demonstrations will take place throughout the day to get attendees thinking about opportunities in their buildings.
The second day of the summit on March 29 will be a more in-depth discussion about County energy regulations and strategies to meet them. The day is geared toward building and energy professionals and consultants. Following the morning plenary, learning sessions will focus on strategies and case studies from commercial and multifamily buildings, with an eye toward improving energy efficiency in buildings.
The energy summit takes place Tuesday, March 28 and Wednesday, March 29 at the Silver Spring Civic Building, located at 1 Verterans Plaza. Online registration for the two-day summit costs $15 per day and closes March 24. The Montgomery County Energy Summit website has more information and a place to register for the event.
