Calling it one of the worst in all of Montgomery County and possibly Maryland, the Montgomery County Renters Alliance filed suit Tuesday against the property management team at the Arrive Apartments on Georgia Avenue in Wheaton.
The lawsuit seeks at least $75,000 in damages in connection with retaliation, income discrimination, harassment and abuse against residents at the 500-unit apartment complex.
The lawsuit specifically is filed on behalf of Elzie Walker, who has lived at Arrive for six years. As leading cofounder of the newly formed Arrive Wheaton Tenants Association, he has been harassed by management and now faces eviction, he said during a Tuesday afternoon press conference.
A security guard at the front entrance told MCM that the property managers are not making any comments and that any statements must come from their bosses, who the security guard would not name and only said did not work at the building.
The lawsuit is filed against FPA/WC Wheaton Station in California and Trinity Property Consultants, Red Tail Residential, also of California.
During its most recent session, legislators in Annapolis failed to pass a Just Cause Eviction law that would have mandated that landlords state why they are evicting a tenant.
