In a four-minute video to his supporters who are members of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin announced he was “midway” through his treatments for Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma.
“I’ve done three of six rounds of chemotherapy,” he announced.
He took time to thank everyone for the 15,000 messages he has received. “It’s so beautiful what you guys did. I’m so grateful to you.”
During the video, he showed the many bandanas he has received to cover his hair loss, including a hand-me-down one from Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s guitarist Stevie Van Zandt.
Some of the other bandanas he received were decorated with the preamble of the U.S. Constitution, a passage Raskin has quoted from the French philosopher Voltaire and the logo from Alex’s Lemonade.
“My cup runneth over,” he said. “Thanks to everybody for standing by me,” he said, adding, “I appreciate so much your solidarity and your encouragement.”
