Residents Participate in Q&A Following Fentanyl Presentation

MyMCM’s presentation ‘Fighting Fentanyl: A Call to Action’ hosted by Andrea Sarralde aired Tuesday evening.

Residents were able to ask questions in a live Q&A session following the presentation. Host Andrea Sarralde was joined by Fire & Rescue Services chief spokesperson Pete Piringer and Montgomery Goes Purple Co-founder Laura Mitchell.

Here’s the show in it’s entirety followed by the Q&A virtual discussion:

People wanted to know how quickly an overdose can happen, whether the availability of over the counter Narcan will help lessen the crisis, are fentanyl test strips helpful, does CPR work on an overdose, and what can parents do to protect their children.

Montgomery Goes Purple works to raise awareness about fentanyl in the community. Since January, Montgomery Goes Purple has partnered with MCPS and DHHS Prevention and Harm Reduction to hold two family forums on fentanyl. They hope to educate parents and students about the dangers of this drug and to ensure every Montgomery County family learns how to obtain and administer the lifesaving drug Narcan.
