A volunteer fair at the Nancy H. Dacek North Potomac Community Recreation Center Tuesday brought together over 100 residents looking for volunteering opportunities with two dozen nonprofit organizations to connect and foster relationships.
“The goal is to make community impact in Montgomery County, especially in this chaotic and loud time,” Alison McLaughlin, senior manager of alumni engagement for Leadership Montgomery, told MCM.
Some of the nonprofits participating included AfriThrive (above), Catholic Charities, Girls on the Run Montgomery County and Manna Food.
Leadership Montgomery, Montgomery County Volunteer Center, and the Montgomery County Recreation Department teamed up hoping to inspire greater community involvement among Montgomery County residents.
“We really wanted to do a community event to bring together individuals in the community who are looking for opportunities to get involved,” said McLaughlin.
Organizers told MCM they hope to make this a lasting annual tradition.
