The family of late police officer Douglas Haggerty was surprised with a road dedicated in his honor on Tuesday, exactly three years after his death.
Haggerty’s loved ones gathered as the county police department unveiled a sign dedicating a portion of Spencerville Road east of New Hampshire Avenue “to Officer Douglas Haggerty.”
On Feb. 4, 2022, Haggerty, an 11-year veteran of the Montgomery County Police Department, died after experiencing a medical problem which led to his single-car crash. He was 36 years old.
