Rockville City Council named Barack Matite acting city manager following Thursday’s resignation of City Manager Rob DiSpirito.
According to a news release from Rockville City, DiSpirito submitted his resignation Aug. 17. His resignation was accepted during a closed session with council and Mayor Bridget Donnell Newton, effective 5 p.m. Thursday.
Deputy City Manager Matite officially took over following the meeting.
DiSpirito had served as Rockville’s city manager since January 2017.
Acting Director of Communication Sean Sedam did not give a reason, telling MCM, “Pretty much, the release speaks for itself.”
