Rockville City Police officers are investigating a shooting near Montgomery College on Friday afternoon. It left one man in critical condition and Montgomery College’s Rockville campus on lockdown.
Shortly before 4:30 p.m., police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to the 400 block of College Parkway where they found an adult male outside a residence. According to police, he was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The victim was transported to the hospital where he currently is in critical condition.
While police said there was no evidence to believe the shooting was connected to the College, “out of an abundance [of] caution,” the College was put on lockdown. It has since resumed normal operations.
Rockville City Police detectives are on the scene conducting a criminal investigation. Police officers will increase their presence in the College Gardens community Friday night.
